MY HEART IS IN THE HIGHLANDS:
A collection of six distinct, intimate, emotional and sonically varied songs.
Recorded in Brooklyn, NY at Figure 8 recording studio, produced, engineered and mixed by Philip Weinrobe with innovative musician/multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Izsmaily, Ben Davis of Cuddle Magic and a number of other amazing guests.
Body Of Loneliness, a Leonard Cohen poem from his publication ‘Book of Longing’, is set to music here in layers of sensual beauty in an attempt to match the depth of intimacy spoken of so simply and elegantly. The title track is a Scottish traditional based on Arvo Part’s stunning rendition.
The original songs are sparse lyrically, leaving the sounds, textures and forms to communicate the emotional conductivity of the subject matter: contradiction, death, spiritual longing, meditation, love.
