The Crankie Cabaret is a variety show for adults with live music, puppetry and absurd theatrics. A crankie is a 19th century storytelling art form. A long illustrated scroll is wound onto two spools that are loaded into a box with a viewing screen. The scroll is hand-cranked while the story is told, accompanied by shadow puppets, music or song. Lilypad collaborates with musicians, storytellers, actors and visual artists to create 7 original crankies every year!
