Rosa and Blanca

Susannah Berryman has been a part of the Ithaca theatre world since 1980, as teacher, actor, and director. She has performed in or directed over sixty productions in the Finger Lakes area, with the Cherry Artspace, the Kitchen, and the Hangar Theatres serving as long-term artistic homes. Since retiring  from a forty-year theatre teaching career at Ithaca College, she has continued to act, direct, coach, and mentor in theatre, also adding writing to her pursuits. Susannah would like to take this opportunity to celebrate all those who participate in the healing power of storytelling, and to thank our local theatres for continuing to provide us the opportunity of sitting in a room together and partaking in stories as a community. She hopes that, in one way or another, each of you feels your story is heard.

G-Quan Booker is a dancer, poet, rapper and actor. Through his work as a teacher of Hip Hop Arts, he has provided guidance to many youth in the upstate New York region as well as during his 6 months in Thailand. G-Quan is one of the founders of the Hip Hop group GCF (which stands for “Greatest Common Factor”). In the past few years, G-Quan has taught at the Community Unity Music Education Program, Jillian’s Drawers, The Finger Lakes Residential Center, as well at the Auburn Public Theater and Wells College. Most recently, he works with youth in the After School program at Southside Community Center, a historical center of the vibrant Black neighborhood that was part of the Underground Railroad in Ithaca, NY.

Mike Chen recently played the Hare in the Cherry’s Rosa and Blanca. Other roles in Ithaca include John in House of Ithaqua’s Marjorie Prime and Launce in Ithaca Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona. He is a member of one of Third Place Theater’s improv teams, performing regularly at Liquid State Brewery. He teaches Study Skills at Cornell and lives in Lansing

Robin Guiver is an actor and movement artist, who relocated to Ithaca after nearly two decades working in theatre and film in the UK. He has appeared as the lead in a number of award winning short films, and was a member of the original West End cast of the Royal National Theater’s production of War Horse, as both human characters and a horse puppeteer, before going on to take over the movement associate role on the production. He’s toured the UK and Europe, and performed at the prestigious London International Mime Festival, and was both professional cast and movement assistant in the 2012 London Olympic Opening Ceremony. Some of his best know projects include Creature work on the recent Star Wars films, the Wicked film, Jurrassic World Fallen Kingdom, an appearance in season 12 of Dr Who, and being the on set performer for Flounder and lead puppeteer in Disney’s live action film of The Little Mermaid. Robin originally trained in Lecoq’s style of actor created physical theatre at the London International School of Performing arts, specializing in mask work and animal movement. Previous Cherry: White Rabbit Red Rabbit, George Kaplan, Felt Sad Posted a Frog, as well as voicing Storm Country, The Missing Chapter, and The Fan. Also in the Ithaca area, Dean has appeared in plays including The Cripple of Inishmaan, Swimming in the Shallows, The Chairs, Circle Mirror Transformation, Nora, Tribes, and The Children. Other area performances include Sirens, Perfect Crime, and Dancing at Lughnasa. Regionally, Dean has performed at A.C.T. (San Francisco), Trinity Repertory Theatre, American Southwest Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and New York’s Public Theatre as well as performed in the international tour of Robert Wilson’s The Black Rider. He is a founding member of the critically acclaimed The Actors’ Gang where he directed and acted in multiple plays. Dean is a graduate of the Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington University; he is currently an assistant professor of theatre at Ithaca College, where he teaches voice, movement, and acting.

Darcy Rose  graduated from UCLA’s department of Theater, Film and Television with a B.A. in Acting and lived in Los Angeles for many years working steadily in commercials, television, and theater. Her television credits include Grey’s Anatomy, Dinotopia, and Without a Trace, as well as several national commercials, independent films, and stage productions across Los Angeles. Favorite Ithaca theater credits include The Snow Queen (Robber Girl), White Rabbit Red Rabbit, and Rule of Thumb (Ana), and Rosa and Blanca (Blanca), all at the Cherry Arts. She owns an on-camera acting studio in downtown Ithaca called Acting Out New York (www.ActingOutNewYork.com). Proud member of AFTRA/SAG. This, like everything else, is for Juniper.

Erica Steinhagen is an AEA actor, voice teacher and singer. Recent work: Natalie in The Ding Dongs at Gloucester Stage and The Kitchen Theatre. Carol in Hurricane Diane, Adrienne in Cry It Out, Margery in Hand to God at the KTC. Selected shows at the Hangar Theatre include: Heidi in What the Constitution Means to Me, Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, Trish in Kinky Boots, Dana in Ever So Humble, and her one-woman cabaret Imagine My Surprise.
